DURBIN TO BLOG AFTER STATE OF THE UNION

[WASHINGTON, DC] - In his role as Assistant Democratic Leader, U.S. Senator Dick Durbin will be called upon to respond to the President’s State of the Union address tonight. But he won’t be standing in front of a TV camera, holding a press conference or talking to newspaper reporters. Instead, Durbin will be blogging on DailyKos.com from his Capitol office after the State of the Union.

Weblogs, or blogs, are personal online journals, one of the fastest-growing phenomena on the Internet. There are currently an estimated 50 million blogs in existence today. Recent studies show that nearly a quarter of the population in the U.S. reads blogs at least once a week (and of that group nearly one-third are moved to undertake some type of political action).

Durbin is the most senior Democratic elected official to blog post-State of the Union. Cameras and videographers are invited to photograph while the senator blogs.
