The leaked 23 minute-long walkthrough appeared on Facebook, posted by Friday the 13th: The Game France. The footage reveals the Grendel map, which is the spaceship where future-Jason recovers from his frozen state and wreaks his trademark havoc, taken from the tenth film in the franchise, Jason X. The Grendel spacecraft is explored both from the perspective of Jason and from various counselors. The map was still a work-in-progress at the time of recording, marked by missing textures and animation glitches, but what is shown looks like a somewhat faithful replication of the Grendel spaceship.

Unfortunately, Uber Jason is not the Jason seen exploring the Grendel in this leaked footage. Even less fortunate is the fact that due to ongoing legal proceedings, fans of Friday the 13th: The Game will almost definitely be forced to play the game in its current state until the servers eventually shut down. While Gun Media and IllFonic did indeed jointly confirm the official end of all future development, it should be noted that neither company has announced plans to bring the servers to a halt, and it’s understood that regular maintenance and bug fixes will continue as usual.

Friday the 13th: The Game France also shared details uncovered in a conversation with Gun Media’s founder, Wes Keltner. Apparently, the developers planned to have the Grendel map and Uber Jason completed and released mid-July, meaning players would likely have received the update any day now. Alas, this map reveal along with footage of Uber Jason in action can serve as a fitting tribute to a game with lofty ambitions, dashed by the perils of litigation.

Friday the 13th: The Game is out now for PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
