Those honors belong to Rafael Nadal, the odds-on favorite at 4-to-5 on the men’s side, and Romania’s Simona Halep, a 4-to-1 favorite to win the women’s title.
Halep is a bit surprising considering that she is battling an ankle injury and recent reports say she is “50-50” to even make Roland Garros. Despite Muguruza’s stunning straight-set upset of Serena Williams last year at Roland Garros, she is still only 9-to-1 to repeat behind Halep and Elina Svitolina at 7-to-1.

It’s no surprise that Nadal is the clear favorite, though. He is dominant on clay and has won nine times at Roland Garros. However, he was forced to withdraw from the French Open last year with a wrist injury and lost at Roland Garros in a quarterfinals match to Djokovic in 2015. Now Nadal seems rejuvenated after reaching the Australian Open finals and winning in Madrid.
