Overall, the free PS Plus games for April 2022 aren’t very large, especially compared to more recent releases. Video game file sizes have grown dramatically these past few years, and it doesn’t seem like that trend is slowing down anytime soon, so it’s always nice whenever games come in at smaller sizes.
Free PS Plus Games for April 2022 File Sizes
Hood: Outlaws & Legends (PS4) - 18. 510 GB Hood: Outlaws & Legends (PS5) - 16. 522 GB SpongeBob SquarePants: Battle for Bikini Bottom - Rehydrated - 15. 857 GB Slay the Spire - 1 GB
This is especially true when it comes to downloading games on a PlayStation 5. To upgrade the PlayStation 5’s storage capacity, users have to take the system’s panels off, which may not be something everyone is comfortable doing, what with the PS5 still being incredibly rare and next to impossible to buy from someone that isn’t a scalper. It’s understandable some PS5 users may not want to risk potentially breaking their new console when trying to upgrade their storage, and so they may instead opt to delete and download games as they go.
Of course, one does not actually have to download all the free PS Plus games for April 2022 when they become available. On the contrary, all PS Plus subscribers have to do is navigate to them in the PlayStation Store and claim them for their libraries. At that point, those games will remain available to PS Plus subscribers as long as they remain subscribed to the service, free to be downloaded at any later date. This is likely the best route to go if one is not planning on playing any of the free PS Plus games immediately.
